Mendoza Malbec

Ripe blackberry, sassafras, and anise aromas are dusty and complex, but come across with a smoothness that is enticing. From the first sip, this wine is clearly more of a serious Malbec, with balanced fruit and a deeper charred nuance. Wild strawberry, fresh fig, and sweet date all come through, dancing the line between sweet and savory, with a light herbal note reminiscent of marjoram. The finish is long, with hints of well integrated French oak and fresh dates. Amazingly complex for a wine at this price point, this is a full-bodied Malbec with depth and richness usually only found in more expensive Argentinean Malbec.

Greek food, such as lamb kebobs, dolmas, or gyros, would match particularly well with the dark fruit and sweet herbal flavors in this Malbec. For an adventurous pairing, try Chinese mushu pork—pork in plum sauce with mushrooms.
